Could a long-awaited royal reunion be even more important than anyone expected?
That’s the question swirling around Prince Harry‘S Reported plans to reconnect of King Charles IIIespecially amid speculation about it Meghan Markle could be by his side when the meeting takes place.
According to Page six on Friday, royal commentator Amanda Matta believes Meghan’s potential involvement would have much more meaning than simply attending another family gathering.

Matta explained:
“Meghan’s presence would certainly add symbolic weight to any reunion. If Meghan accompanies Harry to Britain or to a meeting with his family, it would signal to the public that any attempt to rebuild relationships extends to the Sussex family as a whole.”
That’s an important point considering how much attention has been paid in recent years to the ongoing rift between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the rest of the royal family. While Meghan’s presence has not been confirmed, the very possibility has reignited speculation about whether real progress can finally be made behind the palace doors.
Yet Matta does not believe that Meghan herself is the deciding factor in whether the reconciliation will succeed. As she put it:
“It just changes the stakes. The challenge in reconciliation was never really about one person; it rebuilt trust across the board.”
That trust has certainly been tested. Since Harry and Meghan stepped back from their royal duties and moved to California in 2020, the couple have spoken openly about their experiences within the monarchy through interviews, documentaries and Harry’s memoirs. Save. And those revelations caused lasting tensions continue to shape the perception of the family!
Still, Matta suggested that Meghan’s dynamic with King Charles has always been somewhat separate from Harry’s relationship with his father. She noted:
“Historically, there is evidence that Charles has made an effort to welcome her into the family, but she has stepped back in recent years. I see that as an acknowledgment that the Sussexes’ ongoing tensions with the royal family actually stem from Harry and his own family.”
She went on to emphasize that Harry’s frustrations predated his marriage, saying:
“The issues he raised, of press intrusion and an emotionally stifling palace environment, existed and consumed Harry before he even met Meghan.”
Meanwhile, reports continue to suggest that Harry longs for his children. Prince Archie And Princess Lilibetto spend time with their grandfather during an upcoming trip to the United Kingdom. Page six reported that Harry “desperately wants” his children to reconnect with the monarch.
And as we noted earlier, so did Charles reportedly offered the Sussex family accommodation at a royal residence and even proposed to handle logistical arrangements – no small sign of good faith, you know?!

Whether that all comes together remains to be seen. Meghan has not returned to Britain since her arrival Queen Elizabeth II‘s funeral in September 2022, which would therefore make any future appearance particularly notable.
Matta also believes the public conversation around Harry and Meghan has evolved significantly since the couple last appeared publicly side by side Prince William And Princess Catherine in 2022. She explained:
“The public generally understands that this relationship is incredibly complicated, but they also know more than ever how the monarchy operates. The biggest risk, in my opinion, comes from the way the palace handles this ‘return’.”
In other words, the optics could be as important as the reunion itself.
If reports of reconciliation are followed by new stories of conflict, Matta warns the royal family could face renewed public relations headaches. As she concluded:
“If the public sees mixed signals, such as suggestions for reconciliation alongside reports of continued or renewed tensions, it would reinforce the impression that the royal family is still navigating unresolved issues behind the scenes – in other words, that they are failing to get their affairs in order.”
For now, royal watchers will have to wait and see whether this expected family gathering actually happens — and whether Meghan eventually joins Harry for a Charles summit.
If she does, it could be one of the most closely analyzed royal performances in years!
