Gardening TV star Alan Titchmarsh and his wife Alison have recently made a big change in their personal lives – and the presenter admits he “can’t look back”.

They decided to leave their Grade II listed farmhouse in Hampshire, where they had lived since 2002, and move into a bungalow in Surrey. The transaction finally completed earlier this month.

Alan revealed many times: “I love that garden as much as anything I’ve ever created. I’ve given it a quarter of a century of love and care.
“But when we hand over the keys and close the gate, I don’t look back. I can’t.”
Allen admitted that leaving Hampshire had been “a huge blow”. He added, “That’s a huge number and in the next 10 years I’ll probably get where we were to a man.
“Four and a half acres of busy garden – and yes, I had help but help costs money.”
Alan and Alison originally listed the property for £3.95 million, before reducing the price to £3.5m. Their new single-storey house cost them £2.6 million.
Unlike his Hampshire garden, the presenter’s new outdoor space is firmly closed to television crews in its more modest setting.
Alan, who previously led garden transformation program Ground Force and now hosts Love Your Garden, admits that despite moving to smaller premises, he and Alison haven’t slowed down their pace yet.
This comes after pledging to each other that they will take a gentle approach. He mentioned a plan to take Mondays and Fridays off, which he admitted “isn’t really working”.
The television host admits that he has no intention of retiring because he pursues a profession for which others retire specifically to devote more time.
