grammy-nominated manufacturer Ty Keith has been found dead in his home at the age of just 29.
Brightvious Chambers, better known as Tay Keith, was found dead in his apartment in Nashville this morning. Police said his body was discovered when officers were conducting a welfare check at his home.
Investigators say there is no evidence of foul play, but the exact cause of death has not yet been determined.
In a post on social media, Metro Nashville PD wrote: “No foul play is suspected in the death of 29-year-old Brittavious Chambers, also known as Grammy nominated record producer Tay Keith.
“Officers conducting a welfare check this afternoon found him dead in his Martin St. apartment. His death has been unclassified pending the results of an autopsy.”
Keith was born in Memphis, and met his future long-term collaborator Blocboy JB when he was a teenager. He caught the attention of Drake and later worked with him on his 2018 hit “Look Alive”. That same year, he worked with Travis Scott on “Sicko Mode”.
Ultimately, he worked with even more hip-hop and rap stars, including Eminem on “Not Alike”, Beyoncé on “Before I Let Go”.
Fans on Soikla Media have paid tribute, with one writing: “Rest Tennessee hip hop legend and Blue Raider Tay Keith,” another said: “Another one taken too soon, tired of all these young artists passing away.”
In response to the news of his death, BlocBoy JB posted a series Instagram Stories reacting to news. He posted a photo of the pair as teenagers, with the text: “Damn cuz you just hurt me bad.” She also shared a video of their call history and wrote, “We talked ’bout every day you told me you were leaving.”
HitKid posted an Instagram tribute to the producer and wrote, “I don’t even have words, we’ve been doing this since 2010 @taykeith.”
