A huge update has arrived Rumer Williscustody battle with ex Dirk Richard Thomas!
As we reported, the former couple has been embroiled in a controversial legal battle about custody of their 3-year-old daughter Louetta after their breakup in 2024. She has made several allegations about him, including domestic violence. She even has mommy Demi Moore involved in the case, accusing Derek of everything from throwing tantrums to being “aggressive,” and not supporting Rumer or Louetta financially or physically.

Derek fiercely denied all allegations And threw out shocking claims of his own, including the accusation that his ex had allegedly exploited their daughter in sponsored content containing “adult sexual humor” without his consent.
But the judge doesn’t side with Derek! This is evident from court documents obtained by People On Thursday, Rumer was awarded primary physical custody of their toddler. The parents will share joint legal custody, with Thomas getting parenting time every other weekend starting June 20. The visits will be supervised by one of Rumer’s nannies, but will transition to unsupervised overnight visits in August.
What happens next? The filing states that the couple will both undergo a custody evaluation. Rumer and Derek were also instructed to participate in co-parenting counseling and only communicate through a co-parenting app.
At this time, Rumer has not commented on the win. Derek did, and he doesn’t seem upset about the outcome! His lawyer, Mike Kretzmertold People in a statement after the ruling:
“Mr. Thomas is very pleased with the court’s interim decision on the custody issues. Judge White was well focused on the issues at hand and carefully weighed the evidence presented. We are pleased that the court has issued a custody and visitation order that provides Mr. Thomas with a solid and meaningful opportunity to repair and grow his relationship with his daughter Louetta.”
The lawyer then added that they can’t wait to prove that Derek is “a loving, devoted and committed father to Loretta” in the future:
“We look forward to presenting further evidence that Mr. Thomas is a loving, dedicated and devoted father to Loretta when the court hears this case again. As I said previously, Mr. Thomas will litigate issues regarding Louetta’s custody in court and will not distort matters by bringing this matter to the press.”
