ITV’s hit dating series is well into its 13th season with plenty of drama. Recent installments have seen new couples being formed with an unexpected reunion followed by several couples Cruel dumping.
Despite several new arrivals, many heads have been turned and not always by bombshells. All the week’s events were discussed in detail during the latest episode of Love Island Aftersun.
The companion show, airing every Sunday, is hosted by Maya Jama Panelists discuss the latest drama in the villa with Tony Letts, Tyreek Hyde and Shakira Khan. In the episode, Maya started a conversation with the panel about her unexpected reaction after Simba asks Mika to hide and rejects him.
Her desire to spend a night with Mika not only jeopardizes her relationship with Angelista, but her subsequent behavior angers Mika.
Discussing it on the show, last year’s runner-up and co-host of The Debrief, Shakira, said she approached it ‘completely the wrong way’. His fellow podcaster and last season’s winner Tony said: “It’s a given, it’s never been rejected in his life.”
Maya then reveals that Simba’s father and one of his friends were in the audience. She asked them “What do you think about Simba’s reaction to that rejection?”
His friend immediately responded: “For me, it was a bit strange because I’ve known Simba for 14 years, we’ve been out a lot and we’ve been rejected, accepted – he’s never had a reaction like that to be honest. It’s hard enough when there are cameras in front of you.
“As you said it was an ego thing, he was quite embarrassed at that time. This is the first time I have seen him react like that.”
Maya asked Simba’s father which girl he wanted to see his son with. He didn’t need to think too hard about his answer as he said: “Angelista, there’s no doubt about it. I think they’re compatible and they have a lot of things in common.”
When asked about her opinion on Simba exploring a relationship with Micah, she candidly replied: “I think with Micah, it was just about lust. He knows he really messed everything up there, but I know it was just about lust.”
He explained: “But in terms of a long-term relationship, it’s Angelista. The connection is already there (with Angelista) and she’s apologized and I think she’s already been accepted. I think she wanted to give him a little mental torture, you did it to me, I’m going to do the same to you. Now she’s accepted, she’s apologized and I have no doubt, she’s been accepted back.
“He’s also learned his lesson… I think he knows his limits now.”
