The Beckham family feud has been playing out publicly for months, although reports suggest tensions had been building long before then. After years of speculation about a rift between Brooklyn Beckham and his famous parents, David And Victoria BeckhamThe eldest Beckham son appeared to confirm the conflict in a lengthy statement shared via a series of Instagram Stories in January 2026.
“I have been silent for years and have done everything I can to keep these matters private,” Brooklyn’s Instagram Stories post began. “Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about just some of the lies that have been printed.”
Brooklyn made it clear that he has no intention of making up with anyone. “I don’t want to reconcile with my family,” he wrote. “I won’t let myself be controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”
Weeks earlier, it emerged that David and Victoria had tried to give their eldest son an olive branch via social media. The parents of Brooklyn Cruz And Romeo shared a throwback photo of Brooklyn on their Instagram Stories around the turn of the year. However, the gesture came after David excluded Brooklyn from an Instagram carousel post, which only fueled speculation about tensions within the famous family.
Despite the ongoing division, David and Victoria appeared to publicly reconnect in March 2026, sharing tributes to Brooklyn on social media on his 27th birthday, posting old photos and messages of love.

What happened between Brooklyn and the Beckhams during his marriage to Nicola Peltz?
The rumored drama about Nicola Peltz and Brooklyn’s wedding in 2022 turned out to be true. In his January 2026 Instagram Stories post, Brooklyn claimed that his mother, Victoria, tried to sabotage his and Nicola’s first dance as a married couple.
“My mother hijacked my first dance with my wife, which was planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song,” Brooklyn alleged, further claiming that Victoria “was waiting to dance with me… She danced on me very inappropriately in front of everyone. I have never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life.”
Brooklyn also accused Victoria of suddenly canceling production of Nicola’s wedding dress “at the eleventh hour, despite how excited (Nicola) was to wear her design.”
The wedding DJ, Fat Tonconfirmed the “awkward” dance Brooklyn and Victoria shared at the wedding during a subsequent interview on ITV’s This morning.
“Basically, Marc Anthony was performing on stage, he then called Brooklyn on stage,” Tony explained. “Brooklyn went on stage and everyone expected it to be Nicola who would go up and do the first dance. Marc Anthony asked “the most beautiful woman in the room” to come to the stage and he says, “Victoria, come to the stage.”
Tony continued, “Brooklyn is stuck there on stage and then they do this dance and Marc Anthony says, ‘Put your hands on your mother’s hips,’ and it’s Latin, it was a Latin thing. The whole situation was really awkward for everyone in the room.”
Why is Brooklyn Beckham fighting with his family?
According to his lengthy statement, Brooklyn is at odds with his family because David and Victoria allegedly controlled “the press stories” about them. He also described his parents as obsessed with images.
“Beckham brand comes first,” he claimed. “The ‘family love’ is defined by how much you post on social media, or how quickly you drop everything to show up and pose for a family photo.”
Brooklyn concluded by saying that he and Nicola “don’t want a life shaped by image, press or manipulation. All we want is peace, privacy and happiness for us and for our future family.”
Although David and Victoria have not publicly responded to Brooklyn’s comments, Nicola’s father is a billionaire investor Nelson Peltzbriefly discussed the situation. During the day The Wall Street Journal‘S Invest Live event in West Palm Beach, Florida, on February 3, he defended his daughter and son-in-law, calling Brooklyn “a wonderful young man” and insisting that the family’s affairs be handled privately rather than through the media.

David and Victoria have failed to detail what went wrong between them and their son. However, they continue to share public messages and social media posts featuring Brooklyn, such as on Father’s Day in 2026.
