Posted by user @jimentatorbidoni, the video received over 480,000 views and over 110,000 likes, as locals joked about missing their Scottish visitors.
The clip shows a Boston woman climbing into bed wearing a traffic cone on her head and holding a Scottish flag. Using a popular Family Guy audio, she first mimics the line: “I should get some sleep,” before the sound changes to a high-pitched sob.
The woman then tightly hugs the flag of Scotland and pretends to sleep after crying, and on the video she wrote: “Everyone in Boston right now.”
The comments section was filled with emotional responses from both Scots and Americans who enjoyed the unique atmosphere created during the Tartan Army’s stay.
One user admitted: “Seeing them in Miami makes me feel like I’m being cheated on.” Another said: “This is really like a breakup,” and a third wrote: “I want to keep them.”
While one local appeared ready to fully embrace Scottish culture, he joked: “That’s it. Cone is suitable for Halloween this year.”
Others are already looking forward to a reunion, as one comment said: “Great comeback performance on the 29th” – a reference to Scotland potentially returning to Boston for a knockout-stage match if they progress from the group.
It’s impossible to ignore the affection between the city and the traveling support throughout the tournament. Standout moments included the Tartan Army’s massive line of school buses to Boston Stadium and the remarkable reception they received during the Boston Red Sox’s game against the Texas Rangers.

Street parties, impromptu bagpipe performances and the camaraderie between supporters and locals has created something that many hope will continue long after the World Cup is over. The relationship is so strong that plans are now underway to officially link Boston and Glasgow as sister cities.
Even one of America’s biggest newspapers, The Boston Globe, published an emotional farewell letter to Scotland supporters as they headed south to Florida.
Meanwhile some fans are already coming up with creative ways to bring the two communities back together. One suggestion that proved particularly popular involved American football, with one user writing: “The best suggestion I’ve seen is to have the Patriots play in Scotland so all the new friends can see each other again.”
