When we heard just days after Trooping the Color that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would be traveling to the UK with their children, I believed the broader strands of British reporting. It seemed credible, and likely, that Harry wanted Meghan to attend the Invictus Games One Year To Go event with him, and that he wanted to bring his children to spend time with their father and Spencer. Prince Harry and Meghan’s team didn’t confirm anything for a week and a half, but they (crucially) also didn’t deny anything. My theory is that the reporting originated from palace courtiers, sources who likely expressed their anger once Harry gave RAVEC the required 30 days’ notice. As in, the same senior courtiers sitting at RAVEC got a month’s notice and couldn’t wait to leak it to the Sun & Mail. In any case, Harry and Meghan’s team in California have now confirmed a lot of details about the trip.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are bringing their family to the UK for the first time in four years, PEOPLE has learned. This will be the first time that Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, have visited the country to celebrate the platinum jubilee of the late Queen Elizabeth in 2022.
The family plans to live in a mix of both the royal residence and private residences. While Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet will be traveling with their parents, People understands they will not be attending any public events.
Harry has long said he does not think it is safe to bring Meghan and their children to the UK after losing taxpayer-funded police protection in 2020. The People understand that the review of their security arrangements by the Executive Committee for the Security of Royalty and Public Figures (RAVEC), which may affect the level of security they receive during UK visits, has not yet concluded. Representatives of the Duke say that RAVEC’s own terms of reference call for a risk management board review at least once a year, but Harry’s last review was conducted almost seven years ago.
However, if the Sussexes stay at one of the king’s residences, they will be covered by the existing security arrangements at the property. Buckingham Palace revealed on June 19 that King Charles had offered Harry and his family accommodation at the royal property during their visit, although it has not been revealed where they will be staying.
During their time in the UK, People learned that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will hold a series of public events focused on the Invictus Games Foundation and Prince Harry’s longtime charitable work. Harry will attend the 14th Invictus Games Foundation Conversation: From Policy to Practice at Chatham House, while he and Meghan will also attend a series of private meetings with the Invictus Games Foundation at the Royal Hospital Chelsea. As Patron of WellChild, Harry will visit Birmingham Children’s Hospital to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the charity’s first WellChild nurse.
To mark the one-year anniversary of the 2027 Invictus Games, the couple will visit Birmingham’s National Exhibition Center (NEC), the primary venue for the Games. Harry will watch and take part in a series of exhibition events alongside past Invictus Games competitors, officially kicking off a one-year countdown showcasing both classic and new adaptive sports to be showcased in Birmingham.
In his role as global ambassador for Scotty’s Little Soldiers, Harry will also attend the Scotty’s Summer Festival at Maxstoke Castle in Warwickshire. The charity supports bereaved military children and young people.

I enjoy the fact that Team Sussex’s briefings are very work-focused, and it’s a reminder that this journey really is one Work Travel Meghan clearly wants to attend many (if not all) of these events with Harry, too. Which will inevitably cause the most consternation among the left. They’ll be whining for weeks/months about Harry and Meghan “acting royal” and “getting engaged in royal style” because H&M is doing things like “visiting hospitals” and “participating in the WellChild program.” The Telegraph’s headline about all this was: “Meghan to visit hospital in first UK engagement in six years” They are very excited, but they have to pretend to be furious and angry.
Also: Harry and Meghan are making it clear that Archie and Lily will not be attending any events or going out in public in any way. The British press practically lavishes on those babies, and many tabloids are salivating at the thought of publishing photos of cute ginger babies. it’s not going to happen.
Here’s a snippet of the breaking news – According to the Telegraph and other British outlets, just hours after the Sussexes’ office confirmed their UK visit, Harry was informed that he and his family would not receive police protection. according to telegraph, “The details of the trip were announced on Friday evening. Shortly afterwards, The Telegraph understands, the Duke was informed that his application for a security package for the trip had been rejected.” Not only that, but apparently RAVEC still hasn’t completed a risk assessment for Harry and his family, even though Harry formally requested an assessment last year. Harry was informed that no evaluation had been done and everything was “put on hold.” what a mess. Now sources say that Harry may not bring Meghan any more children. If this is true, Harry is probably going to be jumping in front of the TV cameras very soon, as this is clearly a huge establishment.
