Tim Allen calls the story of ‘Toy Story 5’ ‘scary’



Tim Allen admitted he found his “Toy Story” character Buzz Lightyear’s kiss with fellow beloved character Jesse “creepy.”

Buzz and Jessie kiss in the final moments “Toy Story 5.” When he confesses his feelings for her, she surprises him with a smooch.

Alan, 73, told us weekly Regarding the scene, “(It) was scary!”

He continued, “When I’m doing (“Toy Story”), I’m literally an 8-year-old kid. I think the personality that Buzz has inside is my 11-year-old self. So it’s like, ‘Oh my God, oh no, I’m doing that?!'”

Allen said his feelings of unease were also due to the thought of watching with his daughters. The actor is father to Katherine, 36, whom he shares well wishes with his ex-wife Laura Deibel, and Elizabeth, 17, whom he shares well wishes with his wife Jane Hajduk.

“Every time there’s a kissing scene, everyone in the room goes really quiet,” he shared. “Especially when (Elizabeth) was a little younger. And that’s exactly how I reacted (to Buzz kissing Jessie).”

“I remember when I read it the first time, I said, ‘Are you going to show it?'” he continued. “It’s like Woody’s bald spot. You take them out of the animated thing, and it segues into some big dramatic questions. Can they get married? And let’s go from there.”

But eventually he came to the scene to explain. “I loved (it) because it affects everyone in the room. You know, the adults, and then the kids say, ‘Ew!’ You got a lot of responses.”

Buzz and Jessie (voiced by Joan Cusack) get married in “Toy Story 5” after their long-running romance in the Disney franchise ends when their boss Bonnie organizes a fake wedding for them.

Earlier this month, Allen also candidly admitted to the outlet He never really wanted to be a father.

He explained, “I make fun of it on stage; I’ve never been a real fan of kids.” “As people have said many times about parenting, you do all this (stuff) to get a driver’s license or a passport, but there’s nothing about (parenting) kids.”

“It was a work in progress,” he continued.

The “Home Improvement” alum later talked about how staying sober after a DUI arrest in 1997 impacted his experience in raising Katherine more than Elizabeth.

He said, “I (Katherine) have reformed. With a younger daughter, I see how different it is when I’ve been sober for almost 30 years.” “She never knew about that guy. I’ve thought about it many times, and I’ve talked to Kate, and she doesn’t hold it against me.”
