A woman says A Jersey Mike’s sandwich sent her to the Hopital after she reportedly found a piece plastic while she ate her food.

User @thewaxingdoll, a licensed esthetician from Maryland, recently shared the experience on TikTok and warned others to pay attention while eating.

“Jersey Mikes sent me to the hospital,” she wrote in the text overlay of her clip.

Although @thewaxingdoll didn’t speak in the video, she showed viewers a photo of her Jersey Mikes bag and images of himself and someone else waiting in the hospital.

In the caption, she explained that this was “not usual content” but shared more about what she believes happened after she Italian sandwich by Jersey Mikes end of May.

“While I was chewing I felt something plastic, and when I looked there was a plastic (shard) stuck in my tonsils, and after x-rays, CT, and three failed IVs I finally got it removed (but ended up swallowing it),” she wrote.

After the incident, @thewaxingdoll says she called the Jersey Mike’s location that made her sandwich “for awareness” and did not initially ask for a refund.

However, she claims employees did not take her concerns seriously.

“I explained everything to the manager and even offered to show them my discharge papers and even told him I still had the sandwich if they wanted to look at it,” she wrote.

She also claimed that she tried to “call the company and the company is not answering.”

“Be careful where you eat,” warned @thewaxingdoll. As of Thursday, her video had been viewed more than 637,200 times.

What should you do if you find a foreign object in your food?

Discovering something unexpected in your food can be alarmingespecially if you realize it after you’ve already started eating.

Stop eating if you have a foreign object with your meal. If you think you’ve swallowed something sharp or are experiencing pain or other symptoms, it’s time to take a page from @thewaxingdoll’s playbook and seek medical attention.

From there, it’s important to document what happened. Take photos of the item, food, packaging, and any receipts before throwing anything away.

That’s exactly what @thewaxingdoll says she did with her tainted Jersey Mike’s order: she kept the sandwich and, after the incident, offered to show the store her hospital discharge papers.

Like @thewaxingdoll, customers can also contact the restaurant location directly so employees can find out what happened. Depending on the situation, restaurants may require information such as when the order was placed and what item was ordered.

But if the store itself cannot or does not want to solve the problem, customers can try contacting the company’s business team or their local health department.

Although most customers don’t expect foreign objects to end up in food, keeping records of what happened can make it easier for the restaurant or other involved parties to investigate.

Viewers urge the customer to take action

Commenters who watched @thewaxingdoll’s video were shocked by her experience, with several encouraging her to take further action.

“Oh wow!” wrote one person.

“I’m so sorry,” another added.

Others wondered what exactly happened after seeing the clip.

“What happened?” one viewer asked.

“What was it???” another wondered.

After @thewaxingdoll shared more details in her caption, some viewers suggested she should seek legal advice.

“SUEEEEEE,” someone wrote.

“Girl, get a lawyer now,” another suggested.

“Honey, I was going to be the new owner of that store! Glad you’re doing well!” added a third commenter.

Others encouraged her to share her experiences more widely.

“Local news loves a good story! Involve everyone you spoke to, leave a review with Yelp and Google (make it two (stars) so they can’t ask for it to be taken down) and file a complaint with BBB. Maybe even get a lawyer,” one person wrote.

Not my usual content, but story time: I had an Italian sandwich from Jersey Mike’s in Woodmore Town Center on Sunday the 24th and as I was chewing I felt something plastic and when I looked there was a plastic shard stuck in my tonsils, and after x-rays, CT and three failed IVs I finally got it removed (but I ended up swallowing it 😭). I only called the store for awareness. I didn’t even ask for a refund or anything and was just told they didn’t believe me. (I explained everything to the manager and even offered to show my discharge papers and I even told him I still had the sandwich if they wanted to look at it) cried to call the company and the company doesn’t answer. I’m dropping it and just want to raise awareness. be careful where you eat 😐😭 #dmv#dmvtiktok
