Tonight you could feel summer in the air, it entered everywhere, even in a television studio, between a vowel and a consonant. This is what happened to The Wheel of Fortune: today’s episode, Sunday 21 June, starts with AC/DC, an entry that is anything but timid, and ends with an almost unexpected champion. In the middle, we think about the long-awaited holidayswith flip flops, sea and a slip.
Holidays that however will not be there for Gerry Scotti and Samirawho from tomorrow will continue to lead the program in his home summer version.
Gerry finds Tamara, sommelier from Pavia, who has reduced the quality of the wines to a good level and is always willing to give up her place. Challenging her are Alice, from Montecucco Torinese, breeder of trekking horses and mules, and Mattia, a Roman employee.
In the studio, unmissable, Samira Lui in a bit of long dark and sequined clothing, bright enough to take center stage even before the glitter.
Samira Lui’s “beautiful coconut”.
The remaining moment comes with the animal kingdom, and with an unlikely protagonist: the palm cockatooa parrot that we certainly don’t hang out with every day. While explaining the bird’s curious behavior, Samira Lui stumbles upon a perfect slip for June: instead of “with the beak”, she says “beautiful coconut”. More of an anticipation of the bathing season than an error. We laugh in the studio, Gerry Scotti takes the gaffe, and the real involuntary catchphrase of the evening is served. The cockatoo, for the record, also turns out to be a percussionist: he plays the drums using what he finds in nature. With Diego’s congratulations, he left the animal behind him and the end of his life.
Mattia, the new basketball champion
Mattia is an employee but also a basketball player. Starting without making any noise but with a stature that is anything but small, Mattia grows heat after heat. His is the first solved sentence, in the musical round dedicated to Ron. Its the richest moment, the jackpots: he takes the piglet but chooses not to risk it, and he does well. Shortly afterwards he finds the solution, “Put on your flip-flops and go on holiday”. The little pig, needless to say, greets everyone and makes an appointment in September, when he will return with a value close to 120 million euros.
Alice is inspired by the literary revenge with the War of the Worlds by HG Wells, “Alien invasion terrorizes Earth”but the doubling does not arrive. And so, between unlikely animals and only half-generous wheels, the finale rewards the Roman competitor: with the “archer” theme, Mattia defends the lead and becomes the new champion of the episode.
Tamara leaves the title after a well played match. Alice home in heat, that’s all. Mattia, on the other hand, wins: he arrived at the Wheel of Wonders with 14,900 euros, wins the car and another 10 thousand, and closing the evening at 24,900 euros plus the car.
In the end, perhaps, it went as it should. In an episode that already smelled like a holiday, with flip flops, pigs running away towards September and “beautiful coconut”, Mattia was promoted with flying colours. After all, summer always rewards those who aren’t in a hurry.
