Hugh Laurie is claiming to be “a little drunk” after insulting a “House” critic on social media.
On Monday, British journalist Janet Murray uploaded a screenshot of an article she wrote on Unheard, titled, “What I learned from my online fight with Hugh Laurie.”
The whole online debacle started when Murray wrote a review of “House,” in which Laurie starred from 2004 to 2012.
Murray wrote on x Lowry’s response to his criticism on Monday sparked “some pretty vicious trolling”. Laurie apologized for a long time do.
“I’m sorry if people are freaking out on you because of my tweet. That wasn’t the plan at all. I was a little drunk and already upset about something that had nothing to do with you,” he began.
“If it’s any comfort, I got it in the neck too. Apparently, I’m thin-skinned, even if it wasn’t my skin. I was drawn to the writers I liked.
“Obviously I shouldn’t have cited Bach/Kahlo/Moore – asking for trouble – and I would have been better off picking 10,000 blues songs written around the same 12 bar chord structure.
Laurie concluded, “I’ve listened to most of them and will continue to listen to them. Because we love what we like.”
Murray replied, “Thank you. ‘Move on’ is probably an understatement.” She accepted his apology and ended the conversation by saying she had “no hard feelings.”
Murray and Laurie’s online feud began on June 6. Murray met with Ax and shared his thoughts about Season 1 of “House.”
“Late to the party, but I’ve started watching Season 1 of House. Every episode has the same story: The patient has a mysterious illness. Hugh Laurie (House) gets the diagnosis wrong. The patient almost dies. Hugh Laurie gets the diagnosis wrong again. Threatens to be fired from the job. The patient again almost dies. Hugh Laurie has a last-minute leftfield idea. Makes the right diagnosis. Not fired. Would have been taken out. Eight seasons of it?” she wrote on x.
lorry wrote back: “Thanks for your criticism, Janet. We actually tried a few episodes where House (Hugh Laurie) (please put the parentheses in the right place) got it right the first time, but they were only 6 minutes long.
“NBC weren’t happy. Then we tried something where House never gets it right and the patient dies. The audience wasn’t happy.”
The pair went back and forth online for days before it appeared they had settled their differences.
