Prince George, 12, towers over siblings and surveys his kingdom in 2026 Trooping The Color

Prince George’s height stood out more than ever at Trooping the Color 2026. In new photos from the event, which celebrates the British Monarch’s birthday every June, the eldest son of William, Prince of Wales, and Catherine, Princess of Wales, is seen towering over his younger siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. And he wasn’t far behind his mother, Princess Catherine (although he was still far behind his father, Prince William, who is also super tall).

Unsurprisingly, social media users took notice George’s impressive height transformation and rushed to post their observations. In addition to a photo of the royal family walking, a user on X shared his surprise. “Prince George’s height is simply mind-boggling,” they say noted. In response to a photo of him sitting in a carriage, one second wrote“Is it my imagination, or does Prince George look bigger even when he’s sitting?” Meanwhile, a third commented on George’s stately posture Trooping The Colour, which has had its moments where the royal children seemed a little restless. “Wow, Prince George already has the commanding presence of a future king… Steady and direct gaze…” she flowed about the pre-teen, who is second in line to the throne.

Prince George will start a new school this year

Prince George’s accession to the throne will hopefully take decades. In the meantime, he has yet to reach another milestone. He’s on track to complete his final year at Lambrook School, which means he’ll likely go to boarding school like his famous parents. And while there is much speculation about where George will spend his next chapter, royal expert Richard Eden has said he will go to Eton, where Prince William went. “It will be announced next week that George will start at Eton in September,” Eden wrote for the Daily mail in June 2026. Of course, nothing is written in stone until the royal family confirms the news.

But whether George ends up at Eton or another boarding school, his move is likely to herald a period of adjustment for his family. “George starting high school will be an emotional time for them,” royal author Robert Jobson said Hello!. “It’s a chance for him to spread his wings and participate in things in the afternoon and evening instead of going home to mom and dad.” And while it will likely be difficult for William and Princess Catherine not to see their eldest every day, they are the perfect parents to help George on his exciting new adventure. “They both know what it was like; they’ve both come on board, so they know how it works,” Jobson noted.
