Whoopi Goldberg and the rest of “The view” shouted the panel the US president Donald Trump on Tuesday, June 11, in response to his viral “I love the inflation” comment. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the consumer price index rose for the third straight month, with May rising 4.2% year-over-year, the first time inflation has topped 4% since 2023.
On June 11, “The View” discussed the viral comment in which US President Donald Trump said, “I love inflation” to reporters. Moderator Whoopi Goldberg noted that he later tried to walk back the comment.
After the viral exchange, the president told New York Post that he believed he “loved” that the numbers weren’t higher than they were and claimed he was being taken out of context.
Goldberg then openly wondered if he goes outside and actually talks to people to get ordinary Americans’ opinions on things like this, to which most of the co-hosts responded, “No.”
Alyssa Farah Griffin said the four-word phrase is “coming to a Democratic ad near you” and noted the “incredible” financial numbers. “People are really hurting. Inflation is at four-point-two percent,” she added.
Chuck Schumer hits back at Donald Trump
Indeed, Democratic rivals have already taken to social media to rebuke his comments. “Trump really said, ‘I love inflation.’ On camera. For all of America to hear,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer published on X. “His contempt for you knows no bounds.”
Rep. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries also released one declarationand said Trump’s comment was “extraordinary” and the only conclusion he could draw was that Trump “doesn’t give a d-mn about making life better for ordinary Americans.”
Griffin then cited a study that claimed Americans spend nearly $300 more per month due to inflation. She went on to say that ten percent of Americans suffer from food insecurity, which is higher than during the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown.
She went on to say, “People are hurt, and a lot of Americans voted for this president because they thought he was going to address the cost of living, and here we are now, in a war that nobody wanted, saying, ‘I love inflation.’ Not good. Not good.”
Donald Trump Called ‘Tone Deaf’ As Whoopi Goldberg Weighs In

The co-hosts agreed the comment was “tone deaf” when most Americans can’t afford a $400 medical bill without risking bankruptcy. The conversation also ventured onto the subject of the UFC fight on the White House lawn and the ballroom that Trump is currently building.
“You can’t keep coming to the taxpayers. We’re not a piggy bank,” Goldberg said, noting that Americans are trying to focus on raising their families. “I don’t have a ballroom. You don’t have a ballroom. No one in this room has a ballroom… I don’t think so!”
She noted that people are trying to feed their families, put gas in their car and get to work before apparently speaking to POTUS himself: “You’ve got to go. It’s time. You know, I say that with all due respect.”
Whoopi Goldberg Urges Americans to ‘Do Your Homework’

“A lot of people put all their hopes and dreams in you,” she continued. “And now their hopes and dreams have taken a backseat to crazy things for this country, so please, you have the power to make this change. You have the power.”
“Every vote in this country counts,” she said. “Go exercise your right to vote for whoever you decide because there are a lot of people and that’s something I try to say all the time. I’ve known Republicans and independents all my life. This is different. So do your homework, find out who has your interests and don’t sit back. We can’t afford it this time.”
