Will Arnett snapped at Jason Bateman after a podcast conversation turned into bathroom humor he didn’t like.

Jason Bateman and Will Arnet have been working together on SmartLess for the past six years. You may have thought that absolutely nothing was off limits to the podcast partners. The two of them, along with co-host Sean Hayes, happily chatted about everything from life in Hollywood to their personal problems. Apparently Jason Bateman recently found the line you don’t cross with Arnett. Everyone’s talking about the awkward moment Will Arnett snapped at Jason Bateman for an over-the-line question about the Canadian actor’s relationship with Amy Poehler.

Will Arnett Snapped at Jason Bateman on ‘SmartLess’

While Will Arnett usually likes to talk about just about anything with his cohost, Jason Bateman crossed the line in the June 22 episode of SlimLess. During the episode, Sean Hayes and Bateman discussed their comfort levels around bathroom topics, even noting that they felt completely comfortable farting in front of each other. Although Arnett opted out of comment, he was largely fine with the conversation until Bateman turned it on him.

Bateman light-heartedly asked Will Arnett if he had ever used the bathroom in front of his ex-wife. Bateman said to Arnett, “Will, have you ever pooped in front of Amy?” Arnett didn’t take the question as a lighthearted joke. He snapped, “Are you looking for clicks?” Bateman, having seemingly misinterpreted Arnett’s signals, continued before Arnett really lost his cool, telling his cohosts that this was “none of your business.” He went on to say that Poehler would be upset and that the questioning was disrespectful. As the conversation gets back on track, the awkward moment is all anyone can talk about.

Will Arnett continues to protect Amy Poehler

Will Arnett may be the co-host of a podcast that often crosses the line, but he remains protective of his past relationship. Arnett and Poehler have a long history together, having met in the New York comedy scene in the late 1990s. By 2000 they were an item and married three years later.

Together, the couple welcomed two sons, Archie and Abel, before announcing their plans to split in 2012. Two years later, Poehler filed for divorce, and the couple finalized things in 2016. Despite breaking up over a decade ago, they maintain a solid friendship and remain close.

Arnett rarely speaks about the relationship or the decision to break up, and Poehler avoided writing about it in her 2014 memoir, calling it “too personal.” Neither has married since.
