Anne Diamond gets emotional as she reveals sad news about co-star Eamonn Holmes

Anne Diamond gave TRIC Awards attendees an update on her GB News co-star Eamonn Holmes, saying he is ‘not very well’ after the presenter was unable to attend the awards show.

Anne Diamond updated fans on the health of her colleague Eamonn Holmes after the presenter was unable to attend this year’s TRIC Awards. As Anne took to the stage at the event at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on Tuesday, June 23, she shared the news of Eamonn’s absence.

He said, “There are some people who would love to come here but can’t. Eamonn Holmes is not very well at the moment, but he is doing well, he is recovering and we hope he will be back with us soon.” GB News won the Best News Program award for the fourth consecutive year.

Presenter Eamonn, 66, has been battling ongoing health problems which has left him confined to a wheelchair. In April, Eamonn suffered a stroke, but at the time he told fans he was fine.

In 2016, Eamon underwent surgery on both hips to relieve chronic hip, leg and back pain. However, during his recovery he fell down the stairs of his home and broke his shoulder.

He then suffered from a painful viral infection. At the time, he attributed this to stress from a tax dispute with HMRC. The infection caused a severe rash on his face and his eyesight was likely to be affected.

In May 2022, he suffered a serious spinal problem that caused bladder and bowel problems and required him to stay in hospital for nine days. And in November 2022 he fell at his Surrey home, breaking his shoulder, which required another operation. In an ongoing effort to regain mobility, he continues to explore various treatments, including spinal injections and considering stem cell replacement therapy.

Last year, Eamonn accepted the award for Best News at the TRIC Awards. But as he proudly accepted the award on behalf of GB News Breakfast, some people in the crowd booed him. After using a wheelchair ramp to access the stage, Eamon expressed his gratitude to the production team and the audience.

Despite the mixed reaction, the Northern Irishman paid an emotional tribute to fellow presenter Charlie Peters, who previously won a news presenter award for his investigative work on grooming gangs in the UK.

And he also paid tribute to one of his colleagues, but his speech ended awkwardly when an audience member told Eamonn to ‘get off’.

Although it was not known whether Eamonn heard the pushback, he ended his speech on a warm note. He said: “For the thousands of people who voted, it’s fantastic for us so we say thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who took the trouble to vote.”
