Olivia Jean files for divorce from Jack White due to ‘inappropriate marital behavior’


Jack White’s third marriage ends when wife Olivia Jean files for divorce, citing “inappropriate marital behavior.”

Musician Olivia Jean has filed for divorce from her husband. Jac Whiteafter almost four years of marriage.

White, 50, was previously married to his White Stripes bandmate Meg White from 1996 to 2000, and then to British model and singer Karen Elson from 2005 to 2013. White and Elson share a daughter, Scarlett, and a son, Henry.

This is evident from court documents obtained by TMZJean filed the petition on June 3. In the paperwork, she listed the same day as the couple’s official divorce date.

Jean’s file contains a request for financial assistance. She stated that she currently relies on White’s income to pay her bills and is asking the court to order him to provide financial support and keep her on his life insurance policy.

The file states: “The woman would demonstrate that the man has engaged in inappropriate marital behavior, which makes further cohabitation unsafe and inappropriate.” Jean did not elaborate on the claim in the documents.

“The wife alleges that such irreconcilable differences exist between the parties that the wife would be entitled to an absolute divorce,” the filing said. EOnline.

In Tennessee, where the paperwork was processed, “improper marital conduct” is a standard legal term often used in divorce petitions.

The on-stage wedding that started it all

While White proposed to Jean during a concert at Detroit’s Masonic Temple Theater in April 2022, and they married on stage that same evening, Jean listed her wedding date as December 2022 in her divorce papers.

‘It was such a great day. Do you mind if we get married now?’ White asked the audience after Jean said yes. Ben Swank, co-founder of Third Man Records, stepped in to officiate the wedding.

White later described the moment when The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, saying the proposal came together over the course of a day and things continued to go well.

“I thought as the day went on, if a day had a few left turns, maybe it wasn’t the right day. But the day kept going so well! I thought it was a good time,” he said.

“I asked her, ‘Are you getting married now or do you want to wait?’ And she said, ‘No! Right now! This is a great day!'”

“She was very surprised… Luckily, Ben Swank, who works at Third Man Records, is also a pastor of some church on the Internet. I don’t know,” White added. “He was backstage.”

​Jean reflected on the surprise wedding in a conversation with The New York Times in the weeks that followed.

“It was the best experience of my life,” she said. “You could plan a wedding for five years, but it doesn’t compare to that.”
