Days after Tyler Hynes’ movie, “I’ll Be Seeing You,” premiered in April 2026, The Hallmark star announced this sad detail: His father, Tony Hynes, had died. “On the morning of April 29th, I was left with an infinite amount of love and admiration for a man who gave me an infinite amount of what made him, the one who has inevitably made me, me…” he wrote along with a Instagram video with home movies from his childhood. “I now understand that I was not left behind at all. Tony Hynes May 11, 1956 – forever, through me and those I will one day leave behind.” Fortunately, Tyler was able to find the one silver lining associated with his father’s untimely passing.
Tyler is unfortunately one of several celebs who have suffered a tragic lossbut his devastating chapter had an important upside. Tyler had to stay home after his father died, so when Mother’s Day arrived a few days later, he was able to celebrate in person with his mother, Betty Hynes. “The timing couldn’t have been better to be home for what has been and will surely continue to be the most important day of the year,” he wrote to Instagram for Mother’s Day 2026. “I have no greater perspective on life than I have at this moment. And I owe that to my father.” He also said that he would continue to give Betty attention going forward. “But my mom, you will always have my undivided attention and unwavering devotion to make this next chapter of your life as beautiful and vibrant as you are.”
What Tyler Hynes’ mom thinks about his movie
It is clear Tyler Hynes, who has been through a lot of tragediesholds great love and respect for his parents. Unfortunately, he never said if his father got to see “I’ll Be Seeing You” before his passing. The advantage? His mother has seen it – and she loved it. Discussing his working relationship with his co-star, Christine Ebersole, he opened up about his mother’s appreciation of the project. “(It’s) my mom’s favorite movie,” he shared Southern Living in April 2026. “Wise men, eat your heart out,” he added, referring to his popular “Three Wise Men” Hallmark trilogy. “She wrote me again this morning and said I’ve seen it a hundred times and it’s still got me this morning.”
Not surprisingly, Tyler’s mom was happy with his latest Hallmark offering at the time. She is one of his biggest supporters. “I wouldn’t be here without her…” he shared People when she talked about visiting his “Shifting Gears” movie set in 2024. “Bringing me to auditions, coming to the stage with me. I did theater when I was young, toured the country and she traveled with me.” He continued: “Like, this is a huge sacrifice for a grown woman to make. And I’ll be forever in her debt.” His mother’s sacrifice was so nice that he didn’t mind her standing behind actors “in my eye line” while she was shooting. “And she could be behind any screen she likes, because she’s certainly earned it,” he added.
