Alpert and her husband, Mason Trueblood, told her followers that she faced a difficult period of her life in the second trimester. She posted a carousel of photos, videos and notes explaining that they received devastating news while sharing her pregnancy with family and friends.
They received a short phone call telling them the child had been diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder. The baby wouldn’t have time to get full. She further explained that it was hard to swallow the details when the doctor pointed to the ultrasound showing fluids and organs.
Although she didn’t explain detailing the condition, she said, “My husband and I tried so hard to enjoy Christmas Eve and Christmas with our little boy, and battled through the grief every day…Mason and I prayed desperately for either a miracle or a miscarriage. I never had that in my bingo card. Still feels unreal.”
She and her husband made the difficult decision after doctors recommended terminating the pregnancy quickly. She added that the miscarriage occurred days later in December after she vomited from grief and trauma.
In her caption, the 9-1-1 actress said: “I’m sharing this for the woman who might be in the situation I was in not too long ago. The one who just had her heart broken. The one who’s frantically looking for a reason why. For a result. For a solution. For an explanation. For a friend. I’m sharing to let her know you’re not as comforting alone as I hope.
By opening up about her experience, Alpert sought to reach out to women facing similar losses during pregnancy.
