In a new vlog, Molly-Mae reveals her son was actually named after a robot boxing The film, Real Steel. “We named our son Midas. His middle name is Thomas and his last name is Fury. So he’s Midas Thomas Fury. We’ve had that name for a boy for quite a few years,” she said.
“When rumors were spreading about how the name originated from Greek mythology, I saw some comments because there was a king named King Midas, and he was king. I believe the story is that everything he touches turns to gold, and I absolutely love that saying.”
He added, “But just like Bambi is not named after the Disney character Bambi, Midas is not named after a Greek king. It’s the most random story. I actually got this name from watching a movie called Real Steel, which is like the most random movie. It’s basically like Transformers.
‘This is the most film I have done so far. And I showed it to my mom the other week. She said, ‘For you to like this movie is completely random.’ And I said, ‘I know, but it’s a really great movie.’
“It stars Hugh Jackman, and it’s a movie about robot boxing. And one of the robots that boxed in the movie was named Midas. I heard the name, and I thought it was from years ago. I said, “Wow, that’s a really cool strong name.”
“Like Midas, I’d never heard of it before. I just thought of Midas Fury, I thought, “Wow, what a strong name.” Then I mentioned it to Tommy, and he absolutely loved it, I don’t even know what timeline we’re looking at here.
“It could have been literally the same as years ago, but really our boy’s name was always the one we stuck to.”
