Sequel to the 1997 cult classic Romy and Michelle’s high school reunion Was Greenery in January 2025. What we know so far is that Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow are back as Romy White and Michelle Weinberger. Alan Cumming, Janeane Garofalo, Julia Campbell and Camryn Manheim are also reprising their roles. Several new cast members have been announced, including Keegan-Michael Key, Breckin Meyer, Rob Huebel, Nathan Lee Graham and Patrick Warburton. No release date has been set, but it will stream exclusively on Hulu sometime in 2027.

Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino are officially dancing together again.
Nearly thirty years after starring in the iconic classic Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion, the pair have reunited to begin production on the long-awaited sequel, which will stream directly to Hulu.
On Monday, 20th Century Studios shared the first look below at Kudrow and Sorvino’s return to costume, along with the caption, “The reunion you’ve been waiting for.”
Directed by Tim Federle (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) and written by original screenwriter Robin Schiff, the sequel also stars Janeane Garofalo, Camryn Manheim, Julia Campbell, and Alan Cumming. New cast members include Keegan-Michael Key, Rob Huebel, Breckin Meyer, Patrick Warburton and Nathan Lee Graham.
Released in 1997, High School Reunion followed best friends Romy (Sorvino) and Michelle (Kudrow), whose lives haven’t evolved at all in the 10 years since they graduated high school. But the quirky friends decide to go back to Tucson, Arizona for their reunion and invent fake careers to impress their former classmates.
The film received good reviews and grossed $30 million at the box office, but its legacy grew over time. “It was very clever and funny,” Cumming told Entertainment Weekly last year. “It’s one of those movies that some people are crazy about.”
For years, there have been rumors of a Romy & Michelle follow-up, and Cumming previously shrugged off the fact that a sequel still hasn’t come to fruition.
“I think the fact that it didn’t happen is really a great example of Hollywood’s misogyny,” she said. “If it had been two men – you know, a two man, successful movie – we would have had six men by now.”
Once the new film takes hold, Cumming teased what’s to come.
“I think what’s cool about the sequel to Romy and Michelle is going back to what’s so sweet and having a relationship with these characters,” he shared with EW. “I know exactly what the story is, and it’s really good. So I’m excited.”

That picture made me very excited. Let’s go! I also won’t complain that it will be streaming only and so I won’t get a chance to see it in theaters with my girlfriend. i would be totally dressed up a la barbie. It’s interesting that so far, all of the new casting announcements have been male. The new roles haven’t been revealed yet, but I can see Breckin Meyer playing one of his love interests.
Since 2027 is the 30th anniversary of the first film’s release, I wonder if they’ll make fun of how much time has passed and whether they’ll attend their 40th reunion. Would it be too much? They could also go in a completely new direction. Mira told Us Weekly That he and Lisa had a lot of input in the script. He also teased that there will be another big dance scene in the sequel. They’re both fantastic comedic actresses who know what they’re doing. I have confidence in both of them and hope that their partnership will be fruitful romi and michelle 2 is just as enjoyable, quirky, and quotable as its predecessor.
