Fallout 4 is a very large game in its own right, easily offering hundreds of hours of locations to explore, quests to complete, and horrific monsters to slaughter in increasingly extravagant ways. That said, it’s over a decade old at this point, and there’s every chance you’ve already explored everything it has to offer across the base game and the DLCs.
Fortunately, the game has a huge and dedicated community that continues to produce additional content, especially if you’re playing on PC, and that’s especially helpful given the conspicuous absence of a sequel. However, some are a little more ambitious than others, and there is one unique option that offers hours of fun for those willing to download and install it.
Atom’s Retribution 2 is a hugely ambitious DLC-sized mod Fallout 4 that adds over 24 hours of new quests, all linked to Children of Atom. In this download, they are a significantly more significant faction in the Commonwealth, promoting them from outliers in the glowing sea to a genuine force.
The description of the mod reads as follows:
“With more than 30 faction missions, Atom’s Retribution 2 allows the player to rise through the Ember, uncover lost sects, execute divine judgment, and reshape the wasteland through Atom’s brilliant will. While other factions such as the Institute, the Railroad, and the isolated Atoms only offer small missions against Atoms, the isolated Atoms. Retribution questline stands as a complete, branching campaign.
“Players can fully embrace Atom and purge any rival factions, or they can side with those factions and try to extinguish Atom’s light—each path offers unique consequences and alternate endings. This mod redefines the Children of Atom as a true power in the Commonwealth, giving them the depth, agency, and narrative weight of a primary faction.”
Even better than the overall offering (which itself is very exciting), Atom’s Retribution 2 is also highly compatible with other downloads focused on the cult. This should help increase immersion significantly, and the whitelisted mods include Atom’s Warrior, SOTS (or Atom’s Storm), Church of Atom Overhaul and Tinuvia’s Children of Atom Mods, as well as very useful general purpose mods such as Sim settlements 2.
The mod is available to download absolutely free via Nexus modsmeaning you don’t even have to mess around with Bethesda’s proprietary Creation Club.
Even with the potentially good news that is new Xbox head Asha Sharma want to enforce a new one Fallout game with additional funding, we’ll no doubt be waiting a while for another release. That leaves downloads like the above as our best bet to fill the time while we wait to hear more from the developer.
