WARNING! THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS ABOUT THE SERIES FINAL OF THE WAY HOME!A new preview of the series finale of The way home teases possible tragedy for several characters in the aftermath of the Lingermore Tunnels explosion. The lives of two main characters, Elliot Augustine (Evan Williams) and Cliff Kane (Dan Jeannotte), are now at stake, as Elliot was accidentally shot by his own mother, Tessa Cooper (Megan Follows), and Cliff appears to be trapped in the explosion caused by a lantern flame that created boxes of dynamite.
During the final moments of the penultimate episode of The way home season 4Elliot’s girlfriend, Kat Landry (Chyler Leigh), was seen dragging him out of the tunnels before the explosion. Furthermore, on New Year’s Eve after the stroke of midnight, Fern sang Auld Lang Syne with her fiancé, Grayson Goodwin (Gabriel Hogan), while her true love Cliff, who also proposed to her, was in the tunnels during the explosion. Now a new preview for the series finale of The way home refers to their fate.
Preview of the Way Home series finale teases a possible grim fate for Cliff Kane
In a clip from the June 21 series finale of The way hometitled: “A century ahead”, shared by TV insiderKat speaks to Fern on the beach after the explosion. She says: ‘Sail! Sail! The pond won’t take me back. I don’t know if Elliot is still alive.’ It seems that Elliot reached the pond and traveledbut since he could only travel with a Landry, and Kat is still in 1926, he must have had help from someone else. Fern stares into space in a daze, whispering: “Cliff would kiss me at midnight. Why didn’t he kiss me? You don’t stop like that. Not on New Year’s Day.’
Kat replies, ‘Guard. Cliff isn’t there? I mean, he was in the tunnels with us. We got out, so I’m sure he did too.’ Fern replies, “Of course, Kitty Kat. What goes in must come out, right? He and I… we need to grow old together.” At that moment a man shouts: “Hey! Here! There’s a body here!” Fern closes her eyes and then says, still in a daze:‘Let’s run. I have to write a column about a great party. Did you see the fireworks? They were so loud.” Kat then puts her arm around Fern and leads her away. The identity of the body is not revealed, but there is a good chance it is Cliff.
The executive producers of The Way Home promise answers and questions in the series finale
TV insider spoke to The way home executive producers Alexandra Clarke and Heather Conkie ahead of the fourth and final finale season, and they provided some insight into what fans can expect as the beloved time-travel drama comes to a close. Clarke stated: “The door is never closed.” Conkie added, “There’s always going to be questions on our show, even towards the end. So it’s always fun to have people say, ‘Well, I wonder if…'”
Clarke further said: “One of the things that our show does is even when we give answers, there’s always a question mark at the end of those answers. Those answers raise questions. And I don’t think our finale will be any different, but there will certainly be answers, and hopefully satisfying ones. That’s the whole point.”
The taste of The way home The series finale is very intriguing. Viewers still don’t know who the father of Fern’s child who fathered Colton Landry (Jefferson Brown) is, but many suspect he is Cliff. That would be Cliff Colton’s grandfather and Kat’s great-grandfather. During the series finale preview that aired during the June 14 episode, Fern told Kat that she wanted to jump for the first time in her life. She was also seen hugging Cliff as they both cried.
The main question was whether that hug took place during a trip to the past so that Fern could have “five more minutes” with Cliff if he had been killed in the explosion, or whether he survived. Hopefully the last episode of The way home Either way, will give Fern the closure she needs, bringing this beautiful masterpiece of a show to a satisfying conclusion.
The 90-minute series finale of The way home airs Sunday, June 21 at 9pm ET on Hallmark Channel.
